I would have Walne or Acton to start Dowes as been a big disappointment so far to me?

I would go Carter , Miller , Morris / Hulme , Mossop , Calders , Lupton , Connor , Dowes ( agree but in these games experience is vital,
especially with no Thacks ) , Matty ( pleaseeeee ) , Walne ( he's not a loose forward !! ) , Phillips , Stack , Karl .
Acton, Coward, Phillips , Lawton . Variety off the bench please!

If Matty is back Callum Phillips is our best number 7 by a mile.

The way I see it is we were comfortably better than them last season, and I don't see how they have added more quality than we did in the off season. Where I do think they will have improved significantly is they have a far better coach now and it would appear they are more of a unit.

I think we'll edge it by 4 points with both sides scoring over 20 points. We have got to get 3 points out of this one.

No stack , Calders and Morris is not good . Will they put Lawton in at second row or Walne ? Either will do as I don't think Shacks had shown enough to start . I guess Hulme , Connor and Miller will be three backs . Wonder if Widnes have another spare outside back ?! Agreed about the coach , that could play a big part and could aid them . And Rooney is a dangerous figure in the halves and has a far better kicking game than our guys. I just think it will be tight but our fitness after the free weekend will be the factor in the final 20 . And can we please do that thing we seem so often unable to do - start well !!

the good news is it didnt say we were without matty, so could that mean he will feature? wasnt stack 50/50 for the fev game, if so is his injury worse than feared. we need him back asap as much as anyone else. but i expect there might be a surprise or 2 in our squad.

With Matty, Stack and Thacks playing I would have made us favourites, without them it's going to be tough. Are Matty and Stack deffo out ?

No mention of Matty . He is so important to us in that he dictates our speed of play and is our one penetrative player in the middle he can make the difference if he's fully fit . It's a big call to make , but having no Stack and Thacks could persuade them to get him in . I know it's a lot of pressure after a long while out , but his natural ability levels that up .

don't expect any confirmation on any players playing before Friday. every club keeps their cards close to their chest and rightly so.

I'd go with Wonky's selection with Connor, Hulme and Miller on one flank. If Matty not ready I'd go with Coyle off the bench as he has looked effective for parts of a match and I'd really liked to have fitted Lawton in somewhere which I guess he will be if Stack still out?
