Were backing up against a top quality team, with a line up of players who are banged about in a game that wont define the destiny of Towns season!

And crowds will fall because the Championship is over priced in terms of admission charges

There are quite a number of top quality teams in this league gilly but don't forget even the top teams were banged about a bit on Friday as well. Our defence away from home is shocking look at the Donny match, the York match and now Leigh. No, losing today won't define our season's destiny but a cumulation of similar results certainly will.

Crowds will fall because of results AND possibly the cost of admission for some people but bad results more so in my opinion.

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996.

It is a sport that should never ask its players to play two games in this short space .

Just got back from the game thought we'd call in after GB training at Wigan. Leigh were just that bit better today, slightly quicker at the ptbe which they caused a bit of havoc and that was the major difference, we actually broke the line a few times and just couldnt finish. The turning point was when Callum was taken off, olstrum is a magnificent 13 but is not a hooker, most of his passes werent accurate enough which allowed them to close us down from point A and kills momentum. Acton went well again but got caught on the floor a couple of times which they broke from. It wasnt far off but that little bit of precision and ptb work should come with time in this division Peter Lupton was outstanding today and was our main attacking threat, mongy had another very good game and dowsey did a shed load of work, mossop was solid in D and Carter had his usual game as did Jarrad. We kicked better when Kayle came on.
After Friday everyone expected more but that'll take time as we mature in this division and if we improve 5% in the little things we do then we'll win more than we lose let's not get flaky and call for the coaches heads after a so so performance like our tardy friends down the road

Feel a whole lot better after reading that. Seems like a level headed view of the game you obviously know your stuff. By the way who's mongy?

Thankfully we haven't seen any knee jerk reactions from town fans on here calling for the coaches heads, I think most people who post on here are a bit more realistic than our nearest and dearest down the road. having said that, its getting a bit predictable away from home, although it sonds as though it was a massive improvement from the York game.
We've seen some bonkers results this weekend, York beating Fev, and the jam beating Sheffield, also in Super league, Widnes and HKR getting a tonking after magnificent results on Friday.......It's a funny old game....incredible how fortunes can change in the space of two days
Like most of you I am both gutted and amazed at the haven result, well done to them though, it must have been tough to come up with that kind of performance after fridays feeble effort. The attendance would indicate that it was a tad unexpected. Nice to see Luggsy has finally come out of the closet  (really had us fooled there pal), but I bet him and the rest of them would have swapped todays result with a win at DP. Not suprised to see Rodders not sitting on the bench today, probably a bit uncomfortabe with his Pile problems, he was last seen in the stand sitting on a comfy cussion with a tube of annasol in at hand.
It's gonna be a fight to the end of the season, our next three home games are massive, we need to win them all. we could do with Matty and Thacks back, and probably need a replacement for Walne.

Keep the faith, UP THE TOWN :)

Had to laugh at the bit in the paper this morning that said Rodders wasn't playing today as coach Woods said he needed a rest!!!! An international prop who has played roughly 35 minutes in 2 games and he needed a rest. Poor old lad.
