Castleford Tigers wish to explain the reason for the early finish of Friday's match with Wakefield Wildcats.

Following concerns that a bulb in one of the floodlights above the Princess Street Stand was on fire, the Club acted swiftly on the advice of the Fire Service to evacuate the stand and allow them to inspect the floodlight in question. Upon inspection the Fire Service said that it was not on fire.

After consultations between the match officials and coaches of both teams, the decision was made to finish the game with just over seven minutes remaining with player safety in mind given the delay in play that already occurred.

Although the Club understands that the RFL will determine whether the result shall stand, Castleford Tigers are in favour of the result standing.

No scoreboard at Cas all night either. Presumably that's broke as well. Cas as a club are an absolute joke. Suggest they get moved to Championship 1 and start again.

oh the irony
Now then, it's a race between Sandie....and Fairburn....and the little man is in........yeees he's in.

I, just like those Castleford supporters felt that the ball should have gone to David Plange but he put the bit betwen his teeth...and it was a try

Kevin Ward - best player I have ever seen

The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens.

Cas have suffered a fair amount of cable theft recently, did you check first to see if this was the reason or did you just fancy having a go?

They've done the absolute right thing. You can't muck about with stadium fires. I'm sure a lot have seen the video of the Bradford City fire. Commendable for abandoning to game, and for not questioning the result.

As someone who was at Valley Parade and only about 10 foot away from the fire when it started i can only fully agree with you.

They should be kicked out of sl and replaced by a French team. Everytime a game doesn't go exactly to plan or has less than 10k attendance this can be repeated until all the teams are french. Then we'll be fighting investors away

Hmm ... just wondering whether Steve Ferres's comments about ground maintenance aren't coming home to roost.

Never seen that video of Valley Parade until today. That is absolutely shocking. Anyone who thinks a fire worry is OTT simply needs to look at that video.

I know stadia aren't built that way anymore, but you don't want to be the one that tells people it's all OK to stay put if that ever happens again!

Cas were miles behind and it's unlikely they would have won the game. All the players would have cooled down, it wasn't worth restarting and risking injuries,so a good decision all round in my opinion.
