Serious question. Given Sam Tomkins appearance for the Barbarians, could someone like Joel Tomkins theoretically play for England RL.

Of course he may not want to and his club might not allow it, or maybe he wouldn't be deemed good enough to be selected. But in theory?

Maybe a Union player could be invited to play for the Exiles. It would be good to see if Warburton could make the step up!

Perfect opportunity in the Exiles game if any unionists fancied a trial. Would generate a bit of interest as well.

Why would any Union player agree to this? They would be risking injury and would know they'd likely get shown up.

Never going to happen, as a league fan through and through it would be foolish not to recognize and accept that international rugby league is not an attractive option for union players nor is the super league, the NRL and state of origin that's another thing both money wise and prestige wise.

Prior to rugby union going professional George north would have definitely been heading up north.

I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed all things being acceptable to the player, his current RU club and the England management. Whether it would actually happen in the England set up is very very doubtful.

All it needs is a "swap deal" to get going. England RU play the Barbarians 3 weeks before we play the Exiles.

"We'll lend the BaaBaas Ryan Hall if you lend the Exiles Tuilangi".

I reckon there are many Union players, who would be better at League than they are at Union, some great athletes in Union shackled by archaic rules.
