The Hull Council Cup is being played again at Craven Park on Wednesday 22nd May 7.00 pm kick off Hullfan. I went last year and thought that it was a decent game for a very prestigeous trophy. It was a good all round occasion and will certainly be making my way there again on 22nd May.

I've played in the council cup before (not the final :( ) many moons ago, I did play in the James Noonan final (1984/85 season) and thats a nice little silver cup and was worth about £500 back then.

Carlsberg don't do Soldiers, but if they did, they would probably be Brits.

Brilliant game, both sets of players are a credit to their, clubs, league, themselves and family, the game had everything from line breaks to big hits, Norland took an early lead before West Hull fought back to finish the first-half the strongest, taking the lead 16 - 10 with the last play of the half.

West started the second-half like they finished the first and increased their lead to 24 - 10 before Norland got back into the saddle to claw themselves back into the game 24 -24 before missing the chance to take the game with a last minute drop-goal attempt that hit the upright before the whistle was blown.

Going into sudden death extra time both teams took it in turns to get into field goal range before Norland landed the golden point to take the council cup back to Hessle 25 - 24.

Norland Sharks 25 - 24 West Hull

Classic game; Sharks came back in the last quarter from 24 - 10 to pip it with a one pointer from captain Danny Gardiner in "Golden point"

Both sides gave everything and were a credit to the famous old trophy

Did Norlands number 11 get the man of the match?

Yes Ben Jarratt Norland 11 got the man of the match, he scored that great early try and his contribution throughout was enormous. Saying that though there were plenty of contenders from both sides for man of the match and as Marauder says, all 34 players can take great credit for their performance tonight.

And didn't the Sharks look well in their Tops4Teams kit,
