We did.

It was a great team performance, but Hanbury deservedly got MOM.

Salford were poor, and lucky to get 24 to be honest.

I very much doubt it will be "comfortable".

Your argument in favour of Widnes applies equally to Salford, so I think it will be close. Salford by one score.

Well, you certainly "corrected" him there.

Yes, I did. Hmm. Back to the drawing board for messrs Hunte and Long, I think.

At least I didn't go and watch it. I was at the KC (thanks, OF) to watch Hull FC. I think we'll get pounded next Saturday, now. Hull looked strong, but didn't really switch on until the second half. Ho, hum! Life's never boring with Salford.

A great first half by Widnes, who lead 28-12.

If it wasn't for a poor performance by the man in the middle it would be a greater margin.

Can't understand the criticism of Roby - he had a perfectly clear view of a Salford try, grounded by Neal, and after conferring with an in-goal judge failed to allow it and awarded a penalty at a play the ball when the Widnes player tripped.Kevin Brown had a great game but also tried to con the referee in a similar fashion.
Hanbury was brilliant.Widnes played well and gave a lesson to those people who want coaches sacked for a few poor results. No more Betts out noises being heard.
As Widnes put a few past Warrington in the last home game an injury depleted Salford can take some heart and see where stability and continuity can lead.

Very well played to Widnes. I admire what they are doing and I think we at Salford can learn so much from them. We are basically a new club and in the same position they were in last year - losing a lot (sometimes by big margins) and getting the odd nice win on the way. Widnes targeted 6 wins last year and enjoyed each one immensely - we need to do likewise and be realistic.

I watched as Widnes learned from their mistakes and used the experiences to strengthen their side and prepare well off season. We need to learn from this and be encouraged. We should be able to improve a lot next year without all the money nonsense hanging over us.

Good luck to Widnes - I hope they get a top 8 spot and show all they people who said they were not super league standard how wrong they were. At Salford we need to forget lofty targets this year and rebuild our club - next year should be much better ...

By the looks of things so far I think Salford and Widnes have swapped positions around from last season, as alluded to by 41hound above.

As has been said, it was one-sided and Salford were lucky to get 24 as 2 of their tries were very fortunate. Had Widnes really pushed it I think we could have gone past the 60 mark.

There wasn't a great difference in the forwards, it was the right side of Salford that was continually cut up by Widnes as evidenced by the highlights. In the second half I thought we had a couple of opportunities to go down that side again but we decided to go the other way.

At 16-0, I found myself hoping that Salford put up a fight but by 16-12 I was more than happy to let us run in try after try. It happens so rarely for us in SL I suppose we should savour it when it does! It was the highest score Widnes have ever posted in Super League although not the biggest margin, having beaten Hull by 36 in 2003.

Salford brought about 350 who made more noise in the first 10 minutes than Wire did the week before.

Good performance by Widnes.  And good to see youngsters like Jack Owens and Grant Gore given more first team game time.  Not forgetting Alex Gerrard who has now become a first team regular.
