This is one of the worst draws we could have asked for given our recent record in this fixture.

It's very hard to call this.  If we did lose then I don't really think it would be a disaster nor a particularly significant moment in our way forward.  It seems quite clear that at present we're a mid table team that's highly unlikely to be in serious contention for anything without some excellent recruitment in key areas.

I'll go for Saints by 4-8 points but who knows.

Josh Dugan will make a difference...

HKR for mine, especially if Burns is fit. Without Roby and Lomax Saints' spine looks far weaker than HKR's. Of course, if Sandercock decides that it is ridiculous for his team to have to play in a cup competition so close to Easter, then his team might follow his lead and give up.

Saints are due to have TP and Gardner back but neither of those two offer anything significantly better than what we had available last week (unless, in TP's case, he is feeling in the mood to play for more than about ten minutes).  Hopefully Hohaia will look a bit livelier at 6 now that he's had a match to ease himself back in following his injury.  Makinson is doing fine at fullback.  However, Saints will need to be on their best behaviour throughout (please note, LMS), be ruthless in defence (don't forget about the legs, lads) and play the ball wide (since we still have very little up front when Walmsley and Soliola are off the pitch), although that tactic may not work if Brown plays Gardner on the wing, given that Gardner is a carthorse.

I'm fully prepared for an early exit from the cup this season.

Saints, just, for me but it might go to golden point extra time in which case it's anybody's.

This is another game I eagerly anticipate and with it being on television I hope both sides can make it a spectacle. We've had some excellent Challenge Cup games in recent years that have been so close (Catalans last year and Warrington a couple of years ago), where we've lost by only a point or two.

Hopefully we can continue our excellent attacking displays and couple it with a much better effort defensively.

If Travis Burns returns we have attacking capabilities going left and right as Dobson predominently goes left.

I don't talk about injuries. Everyone has them. Those who use injuries as an excuse must start to think that their squad's strength in depth needs work. Wigan have had a shedload this year and still put out a side that regularly scores highly. For us, I don't believe it is a squad size issue either, as a team like Castleford have a smaller squad.

Either way, really looking forward to it. We owe Saints one in the cup as well.

Interesting thought about history, Saints have not won at our ground for 6 years.

But wasn't the last time we won at your ground in the Challenge Cup?

So I wonder which history will win out in the end?

Aye, didn't Saints have a recent record of 9 successive RL cup semis or summat like.

We had 11 consecutive semi final appearances until last season when we were knocked out at quarter final stage.

Yep, we're in that queue too - the one thing missing from our recent run of fortune in the cup.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Both sides can score points, but I feel there are more in Rovers than Saints - Rovers by a few

Saints by 6 and hopefully a decent crowd for TV however i wont hold my breath maybe 5000 with all the usual excuses coming out for the reason why.

Its on the BBC
Traffic on a saturday
Shopping
etc etc etc

No other sport rolls all this out only us sadly,i just hope that the CC posts some decent crowds this season on TV however i have a feeling that it will continue to decline.

CM

No other sport is as obsessive about attendances, thats why.

Good work on the meltdown though, is 3 days before the game a new record?

I remember Rovers just in front in the Cup at Knowsley Road , only for Alex Murphy to score from a drop-goal with seconds remaining. Never have I ever seen so many supporters in tears as I did that night.

Yes, that is right. I was at that game and for the life of me I can;t remember it. I can't remember what happened, the score, anything. So as far as history goes it didn't happen ;)

Surprised to see Saints starting the game as 8/15 favourites. Hull KR are favourites in this one for me.
