With the 2013 season well under way it will soon be time to turn our attention to preparations for 2014, and most importantly the retention/recruitment in the playing squad...

Is this the thread for "This seasons gone lets think about the next one"? :)

Expecting the world to treat you fairly because you are good is like

expecting the bull not to charge because you are a vegetarian.

6th in the League and still in the Cup... Still plenty to play for!

Gary Thornton would like to be 6th in the League (or higher) and still in the Cup this time next year too, hence the early preparation.

Fail to prepare... :D

I think I've read somewhere that clubs can now approach potential signings, legally that is, from May onwards instead of September. It's probably good forward planning Piggy and like Gav. says, we've still plenty to play for this season too!

This season has only just begun and we're doing better than anyone could ever have expected.

Lets face it from the disaster of a season last year know body was expecting us to be in the position we are now and that's credit to the players and coaching staff and squadbuilder for turning this club around long may it continue.

Spot on there, think its time people appreciated that we have a really good little side down here, I for

one panic when I see who's out injured each week, but whoever comes in gives 100% and puts their

bodies on the line for the club & us supporters.

2 thoughts on the original bit of this topic.

1. Think GT was making the point about players we have brought in with the help of squad buider & building a

team around them - don't think that should be taken the wrong way - lads that were already here - in particular

Jack Lee, Ed Smith, Kris Binning etc - are just as vital and just as important to keep for next year.

2. Just a thought, but our home matches next year will be played on a much wider playing surface,

does that affect the type of squad we go for after doing great so far this year on our very narrow pitch??

The Squadbuilder turnstile raised an extra £63 yesterday and there was a further £94.04 put into the bucket. Massive thanks to everyone who donated.

PLAYER retention for 2014 will be high on York City Knights’ agenda this week following the return to the country of chairman John Guildford.
