Try Tag Rugby has made it third time lucky, taking out their first ever London RL 9's title. After falling at the last hurdle to Hammersmith Hillshoists at the previous two attempts, the team made up from London Tag Rugby community defeated a strong London Skolars outfit 16-10 in the final. Skolars featuring a number of their semi-professional first team squad, proved no match for a Try Tag squad featuring the experience of Andrew Le Bretton (3 NRL games for the Roosters), Matt Ashe (brother of St Helens Nathan Ashe) and Phill Browne (1 test for Fiji RL).
Not sure what this says for the standard of London RL that a team that had only trained together 4 times and doesn't play in a week to week RL comp could win the 9's comp? But I certainly enjoyed seeing them take it out!
