shocking, but why would people turn up to see a game with no point? no relegation battle -just 2 poor teams playing for the sake of it, oh and on a sat evening as well when most people who still have a life have other plans.

I can think of a sport in another country , riddled with tragedy , a drug controversy overhanging not just the odd player but whole teams & training ethics , their best players going off on benders  the norm ,

oh and poor attendances .... http://tensport.com....try-debacle.htm  4635 but people are fed a constant stream of positivity regarding the antipodean code , their journo's always promoting the up side of any story , their TV commentators concentrating on well ... commentating.

it's all about perception .

Bless him, at least he's trying.

Love the fact that the latest resident troll defines himself as someone who "still has a life." The irony!

The crowd of 500 at Paris v Salford in 1997 would be about the lowest.

Interesting post - thanks.

In tune with the original post - I note that our lowest SL attendance at Salford was this years "post meltdown" match against Hull KR, also on SKY, also a 6:45 KO! To be fair the Cas match had another 300 fans - a 15% improvement -   - and we won both.

My glass is certainly half full today B)

I'm amazed at some of those to be honest.

Salford over 10k, Sheffield and London likewise.  As for the Huddersfield one at over 15k that's quite frankly staggering, which matches in which years were these and any reason why they were so high?

At a guess, the Salford one was the last game at The Willows.

That's impressive, I'd love to see them getting near that now.  If anything it shows what potential they have, although they've not shown much sign of tapping into it at Barton as yet.  I always loved The Willows.

The first rugby league match I ever saw was a relegation battle.

It was at Salford.  3pm on a Sunday.

Just under 2,000 there.

There were 11k at Wakefield for the relegation battle with Castleford.  The biggest crowd at Belle Vue in 20+ years.

I don't know, but it's better now.  I only posted it as a one off stat to balance your own.

Huddersfield might have either been the very first game in 1998 against Bradford or Leeds 2006 (edit: 2008), when they did a big push and cheap tickets for students, etc. I was there and in the top tier of the end. I think it was Ryan Hall's debut or very early in his career anyway.

Oh and the Bulls lowest is wrong, I believe that's taken from the Salford home game in 2011, when in fact it was just issued incorrectly in the press.
