I am very sad to hear the news that the Leigh players have not been paid, they are a great team and the lads do not deserve this treatment. As a retired Shop Steward I would give this advice to the players....... If you are not being paid the national minimum wage you should either contact a minimum wage Compliance Officer by calling the National Minimum Wage Helpline or speak to one of our employment advisers as soon as possible. They can help you make a claim against your employer and advise you on other relevant factors such as the time limit for submitting your claim.

If you have any other queries regarding the national minimum wage or wish to bring a claim then please contact the minimum wage Helpline on 0845 6000 678.

If you need help dealing with your wages or any other aspect of employment, we recommend that you speak to one of our employment advisers on 0845 345 4 345 for specialist advice. Telephone specialist advice is only available if you qualify for legal aid.

Why not enquire if they have any overpaid union officials who can chip in and help out first? They usually earn well over £100K

It's a bit time a working class lad like you studied your roots......Union Officials might earn a bit but without them where do you think you would be?   I have never known a Steelworks owner, Mines owner, Shop owner, Bank owner or any other capitalist say to their workforce.....Here you are lads and lasses have a bit more in your pay packets, I'm not interested in lining my pockets with as much money as I can from the result of your hard labour.....£100k might be the figure the Sun or the Daily Mail brainwashes you with but try finding out what, Union full time organisers are really paid you really might be surprised.

Lol complete waste of time! The unions are a political animal pure and simple and couldnt give a toss for the workers! Like a lot of people I was forced into a union that just wanted my money for the labour party! If you extrapolate the union you end up with communism and that works well doesnt it!! Ask Arthur Scargill in his house for life or Tony Blair with his made millions or the barons who dictate who the next labour leader will be!!!! Who flooded this country with imigrants who build up public sector and nearly bankrupt this country?? I left school after the teachers were on strike with ###### all qualifications and got off my backside and did it myself. Unions...phah!
