Is it too late to arrange a friendly for Sunday? Perhaps BARLA or a Cumbria select.
The players could do with a run out to shake off last weeks game and perhaps build a bit of confidence. A bucket collection and a 500 gate would go a long way to easing the finances.

Haven went out of the challenge cup to Workington so wouldn't they be available?

Prefer it on saturday afternoon though, get the place bouncing and all enjoy a drink or two, then the team can still enjoy the weekend too.

would be fantastic if it could be arranged with the RFL agreement but would haven (or Barrow) want to risk their players halfway through the season for a friendly.

For barrow its a no brainer, play a friendly and take a risk on injury and get some cash or dont take the risk and go out of business, both teams could play the fringe players (if there is any). Agree that haven might not be up for it. but as i said earlier surely its worth an ask.

The problem is this Saturday is the Keswick to barrow walk and a lot of the potental crowd are either walking or supporting the walkers

How about a fans v fans game ? Walney lads v Barrow lads or Barrow lads v District lads etc

Both sides have a squad of say 40 per side as some lads would only be able to play for 5 or 10 mins at a time, get current BRLFC Players to coach each side, All players pay 15 quid each to play on the hallowed turf, fans pay a fiver entrance to be able to belly laugh at their mates/co-workers etc.

Open the bar, put a local band on, BBQ etc

Just an off the cuff idea ?

It's 3 days to arrange doctors ground staff etc and to find a team willing to play at craven park this sunday at such short notice . How about trying some of these ideas for the next free weekend of the challenge cup ? Might be a few more super league teams to choose from

why dont we host brett mcdermotts next cage fight at CP,

or even better have brett vs holty

or holty vs rooster.

or get the players to have a boxing comp between themselves to be help at the forum, £10 a ticket, auction on the night etc, its worked for other clubs and even the RFL legends which was at bolton not so long ago got strong support.

or even more sensibly, market the club properly, put links to the debenture shares on this forum for people to buy debentures online instead of having to go into the shop.

have an online donation page or a paypal account for the club people can make donations to.

Awesome ideas there gus!!

A boxing match would probably get more watching than some of the games!!

Boxing would be good. Defo make money that, the club should have planned for no home games in may just incase as a worst case scenario (which has come true!) and looked at organising something, such as the boxing which is a real idea.
