How much interest is this game creating in the town? What are Workington doing to maximise revenue from the game in terms of marketing, corporates, lunches etc? Just hope Town maximise the potential - and it's a good, enjoyable competitive game.

More than normal but nothing has been done in local schools etc to hype the game especially as it could attract fans from the whole county. I reckon a crowd of 2k but opportunity missed

Denis Betts was speaking at the WTRLFC VP's last night.
Pre-arranged, just coincidence on dates.

Town don't have proper corporate entertaining facilities, so that an income stream/publicity medium they are missing out on.

Lots of stuff in place for the World Cup games though!

THis is one area that the RFL could and should get involved in, to maximise gates for Challenge Cup ties. They may have offered and Town refused but I would like to think that Town wouldn't be that stupid!

Rugby League is a sport that desperately needs to expand its geographical supporter base and its player base. This imperative means that all other requirements are secondary until this is done.

All power in the game should be with governing bodies, especially international governing bodies.

Without these actions we will remain a minor sport internationally and nationally.

Half time score of 0-18 doesn't reflect the game, Town have had chances. Widnes had a gale force wind behind them in first half and were kicking 80m on 2nd and 3rd tackle to play in Town's half, game isn't over if Town use the wind properly in the second half.

Workington Town. Then. Now. Always.

Widnes struggling to post any points in this half.......looks like that wind is a significant factor

Town were the better team for the first 25 mins of the 2nd half but bombed a few chances, Widnes then scored twice in 3 mins, both off Town errors, to make it 30-0 and game over
