The Heavy Woollen district will emerge triumphant this weekend.

Gridlock in Batley Carr.

PREVIEWS

Batley Bulldogs v Swinton Lions (2.00pm)

Mark Applegarth returns for Batley Bulldogs in Sunday’s Kingstone Press Championship fixture against Swinton Lions.
Bulldogs coach John Kear said: “Swinton posed problems for Whitehaven last week in a very exciting game. They picked up a crucial three points and they’ll be confident this week.
“Being bolstered by dual-registration players means they’ll be even more confident, but we’re a good team and we’ll go there with plenty of belief.”
Darren Hawkyard (broken hand) and Ian Watson (knee) are missing for Swinton, but Neil Holland returns and Warrington’s Ben Harrison looks set to be included on a dual-registration deal.
Lions coach Gary Chambers said: “This match will be a good measure on where we are and what we need to work on.
“You can’t go there thinking ‘let’s just get through this’ – you’ve got to go there, stick to your guns and hopefully churn out a result because it’s going to be tight at the bottom.”

Dewsbury Rams v Keighley Cougars (3.00pm)

Dewsbury Rams pair Dale Morton and Karl Pryce face late fitness tests ahead of their Kingstone Press Championship clash with Keighley Cougars.
The Rams have lost their last four games, but coach Glenn Morrison remains upbeat.
Morrison said: “Keighley will be a strong team and they’ll be hurting after last week. They’ll want to get off the bottom of the table and they’ll come here fired up, but we’ll be confident ourselves.”
He added: “Paul March has plenty of experience and most of the play will go through him, but they’re not a one-man team.
“We’ll look at ourselves more than them and concentrate on getting our own game right.”
Scott Leatherbarrow (shoulder) is a major doubt for the Cougars as they hunt for their fourth league win of the season.
Coach Paul March said: “We were our own worst enemies at times (last week). We wanted to win so much that it had the opposite effect at times, and we’ve got to learn from that.”
