Maybe they have learned a lesson and are just getting on with their investigations instead of trumpeting their intentions from the rooftops before getting on with their job.

After not seeing or hearing much from them for a couple of weeks I found this.

http://www.dailytele...r-1226637916871

Is this a case of them getting on with it or getting sidetracked into the Blame Game.

The relationship between NRL and ASADA appears to be in a poor state.

NRL seems to think we're at an impasse in the investigation and are drastically considering a doping amnesty!

Come on you dopes, put up or shut up. Get this thing sorted.

The relationship between NRL and ASADA appears to be in a poor state.

I think this is the reason behind the media silence ?

Unlike 'other sports' the NRL appears to have adopted the 'let's protect our label' attitude

Get real people !! The drugs have been there A LONG TIME in the NRL - Time to clean house

Always amazes me how some people can be so easily manipulated by the News Ltd machine.
Facts are the following:

Cronulla have already undertaken an internal review headed by an ex-ASADA chair, had a clean sweep of their board, sacked multiple staff, allowed the NRL to assign upper management to their club and even suspended their head coach.

Meanwhile the AFL/Essendon tried to cover up the matter at first and got sprung, then tried the 'it's not illegal because that exact drug isn't explicitly listed' until WADA told them to FO. They are now trying the "we know nothing" defence.
No-one has been sacked, no-one has been stood down despite their coach Hird at first saying he had no knowledge of anything only to later own up to taking injections himself... Dank has text messages heavily implicating coaching staff at Essendon & the head of the AFL has done nothing except try to deflect the issue away from the AFL.

Keep in mind that S.Dank was with Cronulla for 11 weeks before they fired him but was with Essendon for nearly two years.

Just a general tip, keep away from the News Ltd press in Aus, use the ABC or Fairfax if you want any kind of halfway impartial reporting.

Sydney Morning Herald (Fairfax):

Despite being given the green light by NRL chief executive Dave Smith to resume interviews with Cronulla players after a legal dispute over the level of co-operation provided by Wade Graham, ASADA has advised the Sharks' lawyers they do not plan to do so.

The shock move fuelled speculation in league circles on Sunday that ASADA was either close to laying charges against players or conceding defeat in the doping scandal, but Fairfax Media was told the investigation would continue.

However, ASADA will now focus more on other lines of inquiry as the first interview with Graham proved fruitless and investigators believe their resources can be better utilised elsewhere.

''Nothing has really changed since the interviews stopped with Graham except that ASADA has been out doing other things instead of waiting for the players,'' a source told Fairfax Media. ''ASADA remains ready to interview any player who wants to come forward and co-operate but they won't be doing interviews that aren't useful.''

The decision not to resume the player interviews is set to drag out the scandal, and there are genuine fears that it won't be resolved before the end of the season.

ASADA said they were going to interview a whole raft of players, many from Sharks. For whatever reason - see above and elsewhere - Sharks players, through their legal representatives, have been told they are not now going to be interviewed, according to this source.

So they have changed their stance. They won't be calling players to interview. They are waiting for whistle-blowers and volunteers to come forward. This according to the Herald is set to stretch matters on and on.

Relative to their stance of not long ago I think that's a significant change.

We want them to get to the truth.

Maybe their approach has been too bull at a gate to start with, or maybe they hoped they'd shock people to confess and take their enticement.

As Bourbon Rat suggests some players will have used performance enhancing drugs.

ASADA have said this has happened.

They have to prove this now which is far more difficult.

Their original approach suggested relatively quick action.

So maybe they have got a number of players banged to rights already or maybe they haven't.

If they have then we should hear very shortly.

The feeling broadly in the media is that we should expect this to drag out.

A quieter approach? Whatever. What we want is to get this sorted out properly however long it takes.

Sharks are trying to prepare for possible outcomes of ASADA inspection due to report at the end of August.

They are worried they will lose players and be docked some or all of their points.

Please don't disqualify us!

Some big names involved there. All adamant they've done nothing wrong.

The question goes beyond individual players though - did someone at the clubs involved give or recommend products to the players that were not allowed?

Obviously puny little George Rose needed to be built up!

Yes Well - A name does seem to float & with the AFL case coming to it's pointy end + some tougher regs being given to ASADA some 'people of interest may now have to spill their guts :rtfm:

If they slap a big fine on Sharks who have no money they'll surely not be able to go on as they are. NRL needs 16 clubs for it's TV contract so speculation says they close in Cronulla and become  Perth Sharks or 'Somewhere in QLD' Sharks.

This is from nrl.com:

The NRL today issued Canberra player Sandor Earl with an Infraction Notice and he has accepted an immediate provisional suspension for breaches of the Leagues Anti-Doping Policy.

The provisional suspension follows evidence relating to Mr Earl obtained by the NRL relating to the use and trafficking of the peptide CJC 1295 and other prohibited substances.

The nrl says it continues to support the activities of ASADA in rooting out drug misuse in the game.

Sandor Earl will apparently be helping with enquiries so as to mitigate his own punishment.

Speaking on SportsFan's Clubhouse on Thursday evening, (Brad) Fittler said the only way to educate young players is to make an example of Earl.

"You can only educate them by [threatening] penalties," he told the gang.

"If you take this you'll be out for four years, it's as simple as that. It's too hard the other way.

Injecting calf's blood? Surely not sensible!!!

Club's who've used Dank will be squirming as more comes out.

I expect once this season finishes matters will come to a head in a pointy sort of way.

Cameron Smith has backed the NRL's decision to wait for ASADA to complete their investigation before making any decision on Cronulla's place in the finals.

The Sharks' impressive win over the ladder-leading Sydney Roosters last Monday sealed their top-eight spot in a season dominated by the probe into the club's supplements program during 2011.

The anti-doping authority has concluded its interviews with players who were at the club during the time controversial sports scientist Stephen Dank was briefly employed.

However, the infraction notice issued to Canberra winger Sandor Earl after he admitted using and trafficking the CJC-1295 peptide has once again put the Sharks in the spotlight.
