Good start for the Ravens thought we had thrown it away with 2 mins to go when Cov Bears snook into the lead, but the Ravens dug deep and replied with try of the game with a move that started in their own half to take the spoils , looks like the publicity we had for visit of world cup is bearing fruit as quite a few new players and 19 on the team sheet with more to come ,hopefully this trend will continue through the season and in front of a healthy crowd as well.

Rugby League is a sport that desperately needs to expand its geographical supporter base and its player base. This imperative means that all other requirements are secondary until this is done.

All power in the game should be with governing bodies, especially international governing bodies.

Without these actions we will remain a minor sport internationally and nationally.

Wibsey Warriors threw a stick well and truly in the much fancied Hunslet Old Boys’ National Cup wheel. In a thirteen try belter, they came back from a fourteen points deficit going in to the final ten minutes, to book their place in the final.

Over at Pontefract, cup favourites Sharlston Rovers overcame a spirited display from Nevvy, to join Wibsey in the Fyde showdown scheduled for Saturday 15th June.

Semi finals results

Nevison Leap 28 - 54 Sharlston Rovers

Wibsey Warriors 38 - 36 Hunslet Old Boys

The Wibsey result is what cup games are all about, this is a good example of teams building on what they have year after year.

Went down to watch the 2nd half. Really good intense game. Fantastic performance by SSG. Come on you Dragonslayers!

Was gutted that we lost yesterday in Avonmouth, however it was a great effort from the lads. It looks like the West of England division will be another really close league this year.

2 Teams 1 Club.

Typical of Sheffield Eagles: create a contrived 'club' that bleeds players from the only community club in the entire city and plays on the doorstep of one of the few (only?) other functioning community clubs within their catchment area.

Other than Sheffield Eagles RLFC, what benefit are the Hallam Eagles to the game of rugby league?

If Sheffield have lads needing game time, why not send them down to Hillsborough Hawks or North Derbyshire Chargers? I'm sure they'd appreciate the support.

Relationships between pro clubs and their neighbours in the community game ought to be symbiotic.
