I wonder if Mr Niu is covering his tracks. Or was he with the other side?

I've read somewhere else that as part of the Grand Prix Entertainment buyout last summer that they now own the website. Also David Niu is now president of AFL Global (Arena American Football) although I believe he is still involved with the AMNRL too.

I arrived in the US last summer to coach Boston in the USARL but have no axe to grind at all with the AMNRL. They have some really good guys in their organization. Hopefully in the future this split can be resolved and everyone can get back to the important stuff of developing the game here.

Does Seattle have à Rugby League team?

Some guy claimed to be setting up a team a couple of years ago and was pretty active online but I don't think anything ever actually happened.

Seems to be true in union at the minute as well - with the same people (Grand Prix Rugby?) causing the same issues.

Cheer up, RL is actually rather good

RoytonRoughyed - we have been in talks with Seattle Rugby Union boys to hopefully spark interest again. There is a Facebook and twitter set up by the name of Seattle Force, but there have been no recent updates.

The BC Bulldogs plan a trip down to Seattle late this summer for an exhibition game. Hopefully we can get them excited enough to build a team or even a league there.

The USARL news can go either way.

If there really does emerge a New England development league, then this is very good news.  Certainly, there is the interest in Rhode Island to form a New England team.  Oneida are the junior team to the Boston 13s, this just makes it official.  Equally, New Haven will benefit from better results and shorter traveling distances.

A more local league is essential in the long term.  Firstly, the distances are impractical, with overnight stays and air travel often essential.  Secondly, as the league improves, there has to be a way of bringing in new players short of throwing them into an increasingly deep end.  It remains to be seen whether this will happen, but if it does, it is a new league developing depth.

Distance is a HUGE factor here in North America, it's not like UK where you can have 4+ clubs within an hour drive.

For us we have to travel 40 mins to get to our training ground, and then the closest club is 1.75 hrs away.

Travel makes things very difficult for our Provincial Rep team.

if BC were to travel to Ontario it would cost almost the same as flying to the UK.

Crusaders RL to get a franchise for 2012 onwards -WRONG
Widnes Vikings also to get a franchise - RIGHT
Crusaders RL to do the double over Widnes and finish five places ahead of them -WRONG
Widnes Vikings NOT to dominate rugby league in years to come! STILL TO COME

I follow a few of the American (and Canadian) teams on Facebook (don't know which teams are in which league though) and although the standards are roughly equivalent to Pennine league 2, there is a few good plays and some players who would be pushing for a championship spot with proper coaching. If only both organisations would sort their differences out and put their efforts into getting the game into schools and colleges, America could be a potential recruiting ground for quality players.
I'm not mad but I am...

Would love to see the game thrive in North America and South Africa. If we can get a decent interest in them places would be very good for Rugby League
