Would it be worth a shot ? NRL Magic Weekend expansion ?

Yes, I think it would.

The idea of taking it to New Zealand, or another development area is sensible.

The attraction of it being played in just one venue shouldn't be forgotten though.

That way you can buy a day or two day ticket and see a lot of teams in derby matches. Great value for money and a chance to see and compare all of the teams and star players.

Plus the best players being there during the week to visit schools and other venues to spread the word and raise the profile of the game.

Maybe take melbourne, Gold Coast, Newcastle Brisbane and cowboys there for three games at different venues. The AFL took a regular season game to Wellington this year and got 22k in attendance

I think they are on about playing a nines competition in Auckland next year. Similar thing to the Magic Weekend, although it seems to have gone a bit quiet recently.
