Underbank 132 Peterlee 0.
How is it possible to score that many points in 80 minutes?

Credit to Peterlee for fulfilling their fixtures so far this year when according to another thread a long established club has cried off a game a couple of hours before kick off. However serious questions have to be asked as to why they are in the competition. It is doing nothing for the development of the game in the north east and may have a long term impact on the Peterlee club.

Surely there are better teams in other leagues tht have the facilities and would like to join the conference. Cnt see how peterlee gettin beat 100+ points most weeks is good for the game or the developement of peterelee. Fair play on them turning up everyweek and playing but such big scores looks bad for the league imo.

Leigh Miners 30 v 28 Egremont Rangers

Leigh Miners returned to winning ways on Saturday afternoon with a thrilling late victory against Egremont Rangers in front of a large Twist Lane crowd. The opening forty minutes was played at a very quick pace with both teams playing fast in the warm conditions, it was the home side who opened the scoring after about three minutes when winger Andrew Groves intercepted an Egremont pass on the Miners line to go the length of the field to score, Jonny Youds converting to give the score 6-0. Miners were in again five minutes later when young winger Andrew Hodson scored in the left corner to increase the score to 10-0 , after the try Miners continued to pile on the pressure keeping the visitors on the back foot but when Egremont scored with just short of twenty minutes played the momentum of the game changed and from then on the rest of the half belonged to Egremont with them being on the front foot scoring two more tries to take an eight point advantage into the break leading 18-10.

Miners knew they had to strike first in the second half if they was to stop Egremont's momentum and they did just that early on when Andrew Groves went in for his second of the game after some good work by centre Adam Thomason to give the score 18-14 in favour of the visitors. Thomason drew Miners level with just short of half an hour remaining scoring in the right hand corner, Youds adding the extras off the touchline to silence the vocal away support and put Miners back in front leading 20-18. Miners continued to build pressure as the game went on and if any team was going to score next it was Miners with them controlling the ball well and keeping Egremont quiet with ball in hand. With just over ten minutes remaining Scott O'Brien scored Miners fifth try of the match after some good work by the excellent Danny Jackson, Youds adding the extras to put Miners 26-18 in front. Against the run of play Egremont pulled a try back with only five minutes remaining to get back within two points trailing 26-24 to leave Miners with a nervous last few minutes to see the game out. Egremont were lifted by that try and with just over two minutes remaining they broke down their right to score in the left corner too send all their players coaches and supporters crazy with it looking like they had snatched it at the death leading 28-26. From the restart Miners kicked short and they forced Egremont's second rower into touch, a bit of a scrap following which saw the second rower sent off along with Scott O'Brien for the home side. Miners were rewarded a penalty following the incident and with it being the last set of the game they took full advantage throwing the ball around looking for a gap in the Egremont defence, that gap came out on the left with centre Sean McDonald charging through it to score and send the Twist Lane crowd wild as Miners staged a dramatic last minute comeback to take a 30-28 victory and give them a much needed two points.

Next week Miners are at home to Rochdale Mayfield in the Second round of the Conference Challenge Trophy.

MINERS TEAM = Jonny Youds, Andrew Groves, Adam Thomason, Sean McDonald, Andrew Hodson, Steven Marsh, Scott O’Brien, Kev Howells, Tom Farrimond, Darryl Kay, Danny Jackson, Luke Murfin, Danny Jones, SUBS = Joe Harrison, Tony Doyle, Dave Rowlands, Todd Appleby

MINERS MOM = Adam Thomason

I thought Easts got played by Wests rollmop. By that I mean you were drawn in to a niggly game and totally lost your discipline. Puckering should have walked for the swinging arm. Kerman was an obvious target for the Wests players and he too lost it (understandably) at times. The two interceptions didn't help but Pucko has won you plenty of games in the past, don't be too hard on him.

Nobody would blame Carl and your right he has won us a lot of games! We should have put the game to bed when 18-10 up and try got ruled out for offside that would have been it! We a strong group this year last time we got beat drove us on to not get beat in 7 so we will look to better that this time!!

Very dissapointed by Lock Lanes showing at Siddal on sat, although Siddal played some of their best rugby going forward in a while, tore open the Lane defence at will.It will b a brave person to back against Siddal going all the way this season.....Steve Dyson still cant find the bar tho !

I totally agree about the Easts V Wests game it was very niggly and that suited Westhull IMO. The ref let west hull lay on far too long at times which affected Easts go forward through the pack which they rely on.  A good 2 points for West Hull who where the first team to win at EastHull this season in the league.

Lets hope all the Hull sides stay up but Easts have still had a very good start it must be satisfying silencing all of the doubters who tipped you to go down this season Rollmop!!!

Ye agree about ref on a nice sunny day he let the game be very slow round the ruck which in the end frustrated east hull credit to west hull abit of luck and hard work got them the result
