It was good to see another fans run club at Spotland yesterday in the form of FCUM. I know there’s been a lot of mutual support for each others events and for the ethos of co-operation between Co-ops and I hope this continues, but I can’t help feeling that the Dale Trust should have been there also.

Although the Dale Trust don’t run RAFC they are a fans co-operative run on the same principles as Hornets and they are from Rochdale and we do share a stadium, given rules 6 and 7 of the Rochdale Principles I’d have thought it appropriate that they be invited.

I don’t know if an invite was sent or not, but if it wasn’t I hope it was a genuine oversight and not a snub.

I hope they get an invite next year.

Are you sure they are a Co-op PD? I thought the club was still owned by the Dunphy guy?

If they are a Co-op then they should be invited but doubt many would come as most still consider us to be the stuff you have to wipe off your shoe periodically. Why not bring the matter up at the meeting on Thursday, but you'll have to get it in as A.O.B. before the meeting as there's a lot of business to get through!

Contact the club asap.

The Dale Trust don't own RAFC, as an organisation they represent the interests fans of the Dale that have joined. They are a co-op. Think the Hornets Nest Egg of Dale Fans.
It's true that there has been a lot of mud slinging in the past from some Hornets fans toward the Dale and from some Dale fans towards Hornets and that will probably never change but it doesn't mean that as a Co-op we shouldn't offer the hand of friendship towards another co-op (besides which there are some who do support both teams).

Especially one with a sporting interest (like us) and from Rochdale (like us) and who's team plays at Spotland (like us) and who have their respective members interests at heart (like us).

In fact I'd go so far as to say that any sporting co-op or members club based in the borough should be invited to the next co-op day and be able to promote themselves. It's one of the leading principles of the Co-operative movement.

It's just a thought and an opinion, there are others.

You're preaching to the choir with me PD, I'm as big a Dale fan as I m a Hornets fan but can't afford to watch both clubs and Hornets are my first love!

I think it's a must that any Co-op, especially in Rochdale should be invited to take part, the more the merrier but maybe our board didn't know they were a Co-op. All the more reason to bring it up on Thursday night in the Baum.
