You don't see much Castlemain XXXX in the UK as you did 20 years or so ago - mostly Foster's now if it's an aussie brand. :drinks:

Good luck everyone :good:

Was brewed under licence in the UK by Anheuser-Busch but Lion Nathan pulled out of the deal

The 'Fosters' is brewed under licence as well

A friend of mine worked with Scottish & Newcastle now part of another company and he was in the promotion and distribution of Foster's, a brand they then produced heavily marketed - using TV advertising and major sporting events.

It's now part of Heineken International.

Castlemaine XXXX was withdrawn from the UK at the end of June 2009 when InBev's licensing agreement expired.

InBev produced the stuff here on license from Lion Nathan - your mention above.

They continue to produce Stella, Becks and Budweiser. Lion Nathan must have thought the UK was a lost cause for them

Tip - Queensland to Win

First Scoring Play - Queensland try

First Try Scorer - Darius Boyd

Winning Margin - Queensland to win by 6-10

Cant see the blues winning this one, they've had a fair few forced changes to make and up in Brisbane with a home crowd I think the Maroons will just have too much. Plus I'd like a winner takes all Origin 3 decider! (with the Blues winning)

I'm looking forward to the welcome Paul Gallen gets!

QLD should be charged up for this one. They will have taken that defeat hard and will want to put things right.

Match result:

Queensland 26 - 6 New South Wales

Plenty of atmosphere in Brisbane with a capacity crowd of mostly Maroons supporters.

The game more evened up the series without being the ultimate in Origin encounters for me anyway.

Probably the biggest talking point will be the jobsworth refs feeling obliged to send FOUR players to the sin bin for 10 minutes when in my opinion just Merrin should have gone by the spirit of the new ruling as he actual threw a punch.

The melee that ensued was a lightweight affair on the scale of Biff.

I felt the refs over reacted as regards sin binning a couple of players who "ran in"

Given the under reaction of refs over Gallen in Origin 1 this just left the players bemused.

OK the resulting 10 minutes of soccer style 11-a-side didn't affect the result or swing the game but to my mind it was an unnecessary state of affairs.

Yep,the wowsers are even ruining rugby league now, a minor altercation involving handbags at dawn and the refs have to send the naughty boys to the sin bin. The powers that be are ruining the game, they`ll be targeting "over zealous tackling" next, but that`s what happens when you appoint CEOs who know nowt about the game and let women have too much of a say. It`s a man`s game for god`s sake, nobody wants it to go back to the thugs game that it was in the sixties and seventies, but this is ridiculous and will have people turning away from the game. It`s State of Origin, not Oprah Winfrey.

Is it time to re-open the old argument of having State of Origin as a stand-alone fixture? Does the greatest contest of our game deserve its own weekend? ...

... When you see the Storm struggling without their ‘spine’, or Cronulla playing a month of football without their captain, it’s a niggling reminder that State of Origin does come at a cost. Clubs pay a high price to loan their premiership winners out to the Blues and Maroons franchises. I love Origin... I love its theatre... and I love that dangerously addictive rivalry that not even Grand Final football can re-create. But does State of Origin belong in a mid-week, mid-season calendar

The words and question from Yvonne Sampson, NRL.com

NSW were told before the game that Klein and Hayne would be strict on the 10m - but they weren't.

Perhaps I was watching a different game, but even if they had been 'strict on the 10m' would it actually have made any difference considering how well Qld played in that opening half?

Pity the NSW camp don't take defeat gracefully. No doubt we'll hear more of the same when they lose game 3. ;)
