I wasn't around at it's conception and apart from mysterious meetings and the odd comment I'm still not sure. Various links to crustaceans, claws and crows over the years have enlightened me no further.

GIANT crows!

Brill Hornetto, more peeps :))

Thanks for the applause John, simple ideas are always the best. Maybe I'll get a free Giants ST with the amount of people  buying tickets who probably wouldn't have hee hee (if you don't ask you don't get)...maybe a Leigh one too if my posts on the main board have encouraged any sales for them or the WC game there (nah they can't afford it, and I already have an invite for one game in the CEO's box for my efforts on twitter)

Seriously, it's far nicer to discuss topics on here once you've met someone and can then understand their tone, or know when they're pulling your leg

Hope to see your there too John x

What are the Mighty Penguins? Despite being on the board for a decade and hearing them mentioned numerous times, I've never actually asked what it is. Is it like some made up joke team or something?

I can't remember - weren't the Mighty Penguins an occasional solo team or something? I certainly have - or did have - a Mighty Penguins shirt somewhere with "WCE" on the back. It might actually fit now, since I've lost loads of weight since those days!

Yorkshire Pie is attending as are many others  :D

I do want anyone and everyone to join us, all the people who know nothing of MP need not worry, I only joined in after most of em had been there, done that, worn the t-shirt and beggared off. It was all a mystery to me to be honest. I got the Pengiuns jacket under false pretenses according to Gurner

Anyway, I hope lots of new people join us, it'd be boring otherwise - I'm going to ask the Turnbridge WMC, where we go, if they mind us descending - I'm pretty sure that they'll welcome the bar taking etc, but it is a members club - which keeps it to a lovely clientele, the HGSA meet there (no it's not tiny)

If they say it's ok, and we can sort of sign everyone in, it's just a few minutes walk, with ample parking, to the stadium and equally, easy to find from the train station etc

If for whatever reason they decline, I reckon the Spoons will do

You should include me in the Facebook conversation, and Phil C - him and GAZ (not here much these days) were regulars at meet-ups for test matches etc with yours truly back in the day.

Whatever happened to Justin, the Norweigan/Irish/Aussie who had something to do with it all?

Penguins started a bit like fantasy league, when a poster suggested " who could play where if we had an imaginary team" backed up of course by the fact that  Penguins are far harder the Monkeys will ever be.

I'm already looking forward to Shudders !!!

Oh the memories are all buried on the shores of a lake of beers and other drinky poohs.

And so the future begins.....

Sorry, I thought I had included all my RL links ...and I've just looked and can't see you on my list :( ......I tend to have a clear out every so often and I must have unfriended you ....muchos sorrious...I thought I'd included Gav, I'll do it again and he can link you and Phil C in...you may all have to send me friend requests and see pictures of cats though ;)

JWAD has been in touch, it's his busy time so he won't be at this one but says he'll be in touch for early next season

I hope I've just added the right Gaz ----ooops I've just added a GAV....ah well, he loves RL so no matter...he'll be slightly confused by the request to add you and Phil thought - why can't we all be grown ups and use our full names, it'd make it simpler for me

Can anyone remember who was in the original Penguin's squad, I've looked for my shirt and it must be boxed up with all the old rugby shirts in the loft.

It's been ages since I last posted on here as well, but thought I might as well join the party on here.

I never got to join the original mighty penguins group, so missed out on the shirts, but the events we've had in the past were always good fun and I met a lot of interesting, funny people back then.

I'm looking forward to the 2nd November. I was already going to the game, but it's turned from a quick fire trip to a full day and night out

I think the last time a lot of us got together was the Casino night at the George and that was years ago.

Alright boys......ladies.  ;)

Little bit up for this and going to have a word with some of my mates that have asked me about getting to a game of RL for the first time. Seeing them for a curry night this Thursday and will take it from there. Seeing as the original Penguins had two Leics lads in the line up, a few more won't hurt eh.  :)

Would love to meet Parksider but if I disagree with something he says I feel I may end up missing work the following week.
