Eccles 16 East Leeds 28. Only 2 penalties awarded (2 each) in 80 minutes. Chris Scanlan man of the match for Eccles and Nathan Conroy for East Leeds, but probably the best the performance on that pitch yesterday came from young Oldham Referee Ian Scott!

Good to hear someone praising the ref instead of slagging them off.

Good effort from Peterlee. A close game compared to what they've experienced this year. Hopefully will give them the impetus to kick on and keep improving.

That's what it's all about Sandspine. After this season the Peterlee boys will have a better idea of where they need to be to compete at this level. Best of luck for the rest of the season.

Quick word on group of kids who refused to pay to watch myton, as the game was moved to the university pitch and therefore argued that they shouldn't have to pay to watch, in fairness to them they was another group of lads on the field right behind them having a kick about with a football and they wasn't asked to pay. Thoughts??? And before you ask i did pay this week lol

We had him the week before against Siddal and I thought he did well in that game too. Siddal weren't at there best and their discipline suffered as a result so they may not agree but I thought he let the game flow pretty well where he could.

Leigh Miners 38 v 6 Hull Dockers

Leigh Miners made it three home wins in a row yesterday afternoon when they beat a struggling Hull Dockers outfit 38-6 on a warm afternoon at Twist Lane. The game was tough throughout with both teams working hard in the sticky conditions but with Miners being more effective with ball in hand they outscored their visitors by seven tries to one. It took Miners fifteen minutes to open the scoring and it came from winger Andrew Groves after some good play down the right, Jonny Youds converting to give the score 6-0. The score stayed at 6-0 until the final ten minutes of the half, both teams having chances before then only to be denied by solid defensive efforts. Jimmy Muir scored the second home try after getting on the end of a Martin Gray break, Gray picking up a loose Dockers pass to race away to send in Muir, Youds converting to increase the lead to 12-0. Miners were over again soon after when centre Adam Thomason powered his way over on the right to give the half time score 16-0.

Miners knew that if they could start well in the second half they could go on to record another win and they did just that scoring two tries in the opening ten minutes of the half, the first coming from Andrew Groves who scored his second of the game after getting on the end of a pin point Scott O'Brien chip kick, Jimmy Muir was next to grab a double as he broke threw the Dockers defence to race in and score, Youds converting both tries to put Miners in command leading 28-0. Hull Dockers got themselves on the scoresheet on the hour mark with a try from their halfback but that's as good as it got for the visitors with Miners in no mood to switch off and let Dockers back into the game like they had done in previous weeks against East Hull and Ince Rose Bridge. Things threatened to boil over inside the last ten minutes and Miners were reduced to twelve men when Jimmy Muir was sin binned for running in, that didn't effect Miners though as they finished the game strongly scoring two more tries from lively hooker Tony Doyle and Adam Thomason who broke down the right to score his second of the afternoon, Youds converting the Doyle try to give the final score 38-6.

Next week Miners are away at West Hull.

He's been a fantastic player for Miners over the last six years or so, he has when I've seen him anyway.
