Just watching the Wakefield/Widnes match and Stuart Cummings stated that the new free play rule applies to forward passes as well as knock on's, can anyone explain how this can be???

How can the opposing team get a free play from their opponents making a forward pass because the ball is not in their hands, and if their opponents drop the ball from the forward pass this surely then becomes a knock on??

It just shows the state of our game when even the top official does not even understand the rule.

Got to agree with Stevo on this one this rule has to go.

He is no longer an Official, and he stated any offence which would mean a Scrum, can be a Free Play.

One thing he has done is shut Stevo up a bit, having someone who knows the rules in the studio is a big bonus.

Eddie just as bad, he said Sykes was looking Groggy, he had a leg injury, the pair spout utter garbage week in week out.

Got to totally agree with you about Hemmings and Stevo.

Regarding Cummings he may no longer be in charge but I would have thought he would understand the rules better than a layman like myself, and no way can a forward pass result in a free play.

The only way a free play can occur is if the attacking team drop the ball forward and the defending team pick it up and make an unsuccessful play.

It's an absolute garbage rule.
