This sunday sees the cream of the North West Counties under 12s compete in our annual finals day this year being staged at Preston Grasshoppers RFC.

The forecast is favourable and with four back to back finals the day promises to be another exciting and enjoyable day for our young players their coaches and families .

So if your at a loose end on sunday come along and see the fruits of our development work, you will not be disappointed.

Latchford Albion v Thatto Heath Crusaders Shields

Oldham St Annes v Saddleworth Rangers

Halton Farnworth Hornets v Thatto Heath Crusaders Swords

Leigh Miners Rangers v Rylands Sharks

Just wondering, do Rugby League clubs not have the facilities for days like this or do they not put themselves forwarded?

Some clubs do have the facilities but we try to give the players a one off experience as they will probably never play at the final venue again , one thing I have to say about RU clubs their hospitality and co-operation are second to none .

We have played our finals for the last few years up at Fylde and we have been able to put on some cracking days, our pro grounds are out of the question as their charges are excessive and are not economical for us as we fund the day ourselves.

What a superb day at the U12's finals today with four very even and entertaining matches, full of skill and endeavour, all played in great spirit.

Congratulations to all 8 teams that took part for making it a hugely entertaining afternon for everyone present and being a very positive advertisement for Junior RL in the NWC.

A great deal of credit must go to the NWC 8's-12's League for the excellent organisation that also added a significant amount to the day as a whole, particularly for the players who were all made to feel like winners, irrespective of the final scores.

Finally it was great to see the New BARLA Chair in attendance at an event this side of the Pennines, something that has been distinctly lacking in the past!!

I'm sure Sue Taylor and her colleagues from BARLA thoroughly enjoyed the day as much as everyone else did, hopefully it won't be a one off and under Mrs Taylor BARLA will build bridges both sides of the hill to take the game forward in a positive manner.

10 / 10 to the new Barla  chair ,Sue along with her better half  and Roger Fagge stayed for the full day and actually watched all the games and did us the honour of presenting our young players with their medals and trophies.

Small steps being made in rebuilding the relationships with the youth and junior leagues but a massive statement of intent from Sue .

Also today we received praise from Sue on the work we have done in the north west in providing days like yesterday for our young players and coaches.

Proud as always to be chair of a brilliant set of volunteers ,coaches ,players and supporters .
