There is a topic on the Salford RL fans site about a SL club terminating a players contract based on his performance. It would appear that the contract had a clause about fitness etc within it.  The fans are hoping it relates to one of our overseas players.

Just wondered if these clauses are routine now?

According to the article it is a standard super league contract.

I'm hoping it applies to ALL of our overseas players (apart from McPherson)!

I hope he has a clause in his new contract about the number of games he has to play. Not played enough and we haven't signed anyone to do the work as yet,

Salford are most likely, in an effort to free up as much cap & move players not in Nobles long term plans .

This Fella would be able to tell you. I would guess. ( Whether - a performance criteria was a standard inclusion in RL -SL , contracts )

Given that a Professional RL player once signed is a employee , and most company standard form contracts include a performance criteria.

but how you would measure - objectively that a player has contravened by not playing well enough?

most players who are ' sacked ' are due to a misconduct - IE criminal offense - that means they are not at liberty to play or have brought the name of the club into disprepute.

Nearest I could find was Bradford 2009 ' sacked Tame' Tupou for being unable to train for 26 weeks in any 12 month Period .( above )

I would suggest that the amount of stats available would make it much easier for clubs to invoke this clause.

That, and fitness is fairly easy to measure at a sports club.

Looks like Foran is gone so maybe it is him. Looks like he left  immediately .

Really poor signing, arrived unfit and overweight and never recovered.

Vic Mauro next?
