A good game for the neutral. As a wire fan I'm disappointed that we saved our worst performance of the season for the most important game so far. I commented to a friend yesterday that we have to many men over 30 and with their best years behind them, and it showed yesterday against a younger team. Also smith doesn't get the tactics wrong often but I thought he did yesterday. When plan a wasn't working there was no plan b. Had warrington played with the high speed intensity that they can then I doubt Hull would have held us,but we allowed Hull to slow us down and we got pulled into an arm wrestle that their forwards seemed more hungry to win? On the plus side and this will sound arrogant but it's not meant to be I was getting a little bored of winning at Wembley! We have nothing to prove in that competition now and it's the grand final that we need to win next. Hopefully this defeat will spur the side on to win super league? Overall I thought Hull were the better team and deserved it and it would have been harsh on them had we pinched it from them at the end. So I'm upset but we like our wounds and move on. Old Trafford here we come(hopefully) and good luck to Wigan and Hull in the cup final,I hope both sets of fans enjoy their day out and it's a great game to watch like the 1985 final was. Chris Bridge? Let's not even go there!

Ask any wire fan which trophy they would like to win next and I suspect most would say the grand final. As already said we've nothing to prove in the challenge cup? Wasn't being arrogant, 3 wins from last 4 finals at Wembley is good enough for me. We want the other one now!

Not devauling it at all. Had I wanted to do that I would have called it the "tin pot trophy" like fans of other clubs West of the pennines do when they get knocked out!

I do think your just looking for an argument. I'm more grown up than that so won't be taking you on. Don't feed the trolls I think they say? Either that or your just the latest warrington hater to step out of the closit?Either way I hope we stroll to grand final victory now after your comments!

I don't think the age thing can keep being brought up just when we lose. It wasn't an issue when we played the likes of Wigan, Saints and Huddersfield recently, Hull just did enough on the day.

Totally

Wire were off sorts this game, passes that normally go to hand missed, their control of the ruck wasn't as slick and it just want quite their (cant have those bloody days playing the Giants can they, noooo...ahem)

Hull bust a gut to get that win and quite right
Even so Wire came within a fingertip of winning - or at least going to extra time

But Wire wanted to win that game and no mistake

Just to reiterate how magnanimous the Wire fans where in defeat. Despite (some) talk of the potential for incidedents and the 6PM kick off didnt see even the slightest site/edge of trouble far from it good banter before the game and the Wire fans clapping the Hull fans down the stadium hill at the end of the game. Makes you prouder of rugby league than the game itself sometimes.

For me if those two teams played each other 10 times i would bet on Wire winning 7 of them, they are a better all round side, That said Hull did it on the day and that's what counts in the Cup. You can be certain though that wire are going to be putting in some cracking performances  in the Super league, I am not looking forward to playing them at any stage.

The Bridge to Lineham kick was where it all turned.

Turned the game on its head and visibly lifted the Hull players. I think nearly every Hull fan in the stadium would have known how that was going to end as soon as the ball had left Bridge's boot.

What a fantastic game and a superb atmosphere! Credit due to both the Wire and Hull fans.

Wish I'd watched this game in the pub instead.....

Aye, as gutted as I am, I'm fully bought into the cup and the shocks that it provides, so I can't be too gutted when I look at the bigger picture.

Hull are very deserving of their place, having beaten Wakefield, Catalan away and Wire in the semi - not an easy run at all.

Wasn't a shock for me Dave, I fully expected to see Hull FC reach the Challenge Cup Final this year.

Which is why today, despite being a Hull FC fan living in Hull, I had to buy a stupid day return train ticket from stupid Weston Super Mare to London stupid Paddington for Sat 24th August because that particular morning I'll be in stupid Somerset supposedly enjoying the first day of my stupid summer holiday.

OF if you had only said...3 hkr exiles in South Wales,Weston and Gloucester will be travelling by car on that day to watch a game at Wembley with mixed feelings. We would have loved to take you there...possibly tense on the journey back mind!

Have chosen tickets at the Wigan end to avoid being carried away with schizophrenia. Remember the Widnes v Hull final where I was glad to see the final result at Wembley as a draw and was free to give my full support to Hull in a magnificent win at Elland Road.

Your disrupted holiday plans remind me..ha ha... of 1980. Had to cancel a fortnight in Tunisia to see the game..but think it was worth it?

Hope you enjoy your holiday anyway!

I don't bloody believe it!   :(   Just my sodding luck.

That would have been perfect. Oh well, never mind.

Just think, if the "yet another unthinkable" happens, I would have been insufferable on the return journey so you'd have probably kicked me out before we reached the M25 anyway.

That explains one thing at least. I now know why you were chuntering so much about the club's focus on the Challenge Cup this season.
