Depends, if the majority of the tickets being sold are in this country, and the purpose of a such a link up is to raise awareness in this country, it makes sense to partner with a National UK Chain.

 

Is it not about exposure for the guys sponsoring and making some money for the RFL? In which case, where are most people likely to be viewing? Not necessarily at the game...

It may be that the RFL is actually trying to get proper value for its competition portfolio and this is becoming a harder sell. I can imagine that many RL title sponsorships have been given away on the cheap in the past. Stones Bitter/Slalom Lager Championship, JJB Super League, Buddies Cup :), how do we know how much was paid on these deals?

 

The Stobart fiasco was the first time the value of this has really come to a head. Engage did pay a fair whack but many will say that this is still on the cheap for something that is on tv every week for 8 months of the year.
