Batley have announced the signing of Alistair Leak the former Egremont halfback who has been playing for England students in the Students World Cup.

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996.

Dear me . These guys should be our future and bread n butter . We have a gold seam on our doorstep and we have to mine it . We've seen what the quality is when we get them , must be lots more .

Think he's at Leeds Uni
Just checked.....he's at Leeds Met Uni and was Student Player of the Year 2012/13, winning the Ces Thompson award which is appropriate for a Cumbrian.

He's only signed for Batley until the end of this season, so may end up elsewhere in the longer term.
