Haven local dialect?

Did anyone else apart from me engage the Haven locals in a bit of banter?

 

Two or three times one local fan spoke to me, but for the life of me, I couldn't understand a single word he was saying. Maybe he was gabbing in broad Cumbrianese or whatever.

 

Last time this kind of thing happened to me was when a Scotsman was rabbiting on in his thick Glasgow twang and as far as I was concerned he might as well have been from deepest Siberia.

They used to play Gordon Strachan post match interviews with sub-titles here on Fox Soccer!

haha that was me with a white trackie top on my excuse is i was at a wedding all day on saturday and had been out since 11 on the sunday lol

At least you did talk mate. I had a chat with you too about Mick Nanyn and understood every word........mind you I do have a few friends from Cumbria and I know what 'as tha iva sen a caddie lowp a farve bar yat' means (excuse the spelling)!

Aye, they used to say Pendlebury folk had a different twang than Swinton folk and Cliftonians even had their own phrase book for 'foreign' visitors and missionaries.
