Well, will we have Thacks next season or not? Most posts about him on here in the past few weeks have been about him moving on to Australia. I would like to hear just who we do have for next season for our game seems to be one rumour after another.

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996.

Patience Keith , all in good time . Great season for you guys , I know you crave for more but come october when you sit back and reflex then you will see how well they have done. As for Thacks , let him go and Dowes for that as well . Next year this league will be laden with young hungray men wanting to prove a point to their ex SL employees, you need young fresh blood and that comes with a lesser price tag to what you have at the moment. Its bloddy plentifull if they look right. Wigan have just employed a guy to keep tabs on the cumbrian talent - thats how highly they rate the boys up there . But they shouldnt be blinkered , there are guys around yorkshire and lancashire who can easilty fill a void Thacks,Dowes and Acton leave . I could name you 4/5  young forwards who would eat this league up and they all ex SL academy players who got unlucky with the cut last year , and they all would travel. It sgoing to be interesting next year - I would be all over Leeds ,wakefield and Salford in the off season , they are all looking to get shut of numbers and at the right age and the right price with a decent pedigree.

If it was a half back i would try and screw Widnes down for Gilmore for a season, clever clever boy that one but i bet he doesnt come cheap. Hulme & Flynn for a season maybe - No briscoe or Carter ?? Flynn can play fullback and Im surprised he wasnt tried there and left Miller out wide. Hulme could even offer you options other than centre

The score line didn't reflect the game in my opinion we played some good rugby some of our best rugby all season one game to many 5 key players missing the amount of games they've had to play has took it's toll come the end of the year. But if anyone had said that we would finish in the play offs and be the top Cumbrian side I would of bit they hand off.
Now lets look forward to next season and get some new players in and resign out players

Tom Gilmore is a cracking player and I said in a previous post that I would get him on a season loan.Unless Widnes have him as back up to Brown and Mellor.I feel Craven is the back up but in my opinion Gilmore is a better player.

im sorry mate but theres no chance in hell paddy can play full back. he has 1 big hole in his game and thats catching the bomb, so full back would expose him to that even more. we have 1 of the best young fullbacks around signing so we will be fine there.

Two dropped kick-offs leading straight to scores beginning of second half following good scores from Town ended our challenge after that it was all about their impressive, superior and dynamic backs who just sliced through us and every bounce of the ball went their way as is often the case when a team gets on top. Gutsy from Town though. Jarrod immense as usual, Connor had a good game, Thacks great and Forber offensively best I've seen him play. No dual reg (did Batley have any?) and too many first teamers missing to expect any other result I guess. Hard to take but no complaints.

No we didn't. I think your summary of the game is just about spot on. Forber was outstanding with ball in hand, I was really impressed with him.

thats great news wonky , fullback is pivotal these days and I think Miller would do better on the wing with a decent centre. Never understood in all the time hulme was up he never once partnered ELL ??

Hope you make some cracking signings and I hope they are signings with an eye on the future and not the past eh -have a great off season and I hope you all get to see some crackers in the world cup .

That's right wonder , I was thinking how important fullback had become . It seems the key position now . I think we've seen we need at least two specialist fullbacks of as a high quality as possible . Build your foundations from there . I hope Carter stays as well , he is such a fine all round player he can cover many places

Maybe , but hope it gets sorted because he's xfactor at best and doesn't need a set position out on the paddock to make an impact .Inconsistent and frustrating season this year from him but no doubting the ability when on song. No doubt things will come out soon as regards who's coming n going . As you rightly say , players get replaced by quality and you roll on

It's been a bit of a mystery where he has gone and if he is moving on what a very poor way to go about it!!!!!
