Failsworth has been part of the Oldham Borough since 1974. Prior to that it was in Manchester hence the Manchester Post Code.

Oafc and orlfc won't be going to failsworth anyway, so it doesn't matter if it's in Manchester or Oldham, or Timbuktu for that matter.

It seems immaterial debating this now it's not going to happen, when the Dr is ALLEDGED to have pulled out.

*alleged. Of course it could be all part of the to-ing and fro-ing of business negotiation or it could just be its not going to happen.

Oh no it wasn't, Failsworth has NEVER been part of the city of Manchester. Prior to becoming part of Oldham Metro back in April 1974, the town was a self governing urban district, i.e. Failsworth Urban District.

A Manchester 'M' postcode and address does not mean it is within the city's boundaries. Some examples of this are Eccles, Manchester M30 - Swinton, Manchester M27 - Irlam, Manchester M44 and Prestwich, Manchester M25
