But without midweek games that isn't possible with our structure.

 

The Aussies have a different structure which allows for a shorter season.

 

We could alter our structure.  The difference is that they look at it as a business, we look at it as a game.

hmm. not convined. The reason we have magic weekend, plus repeat fixtures in the past was down to us treating it like a business.
Comparing the NRL to SL is pointless.

Fair comment.  But we could still alter our structure.  We play from February to October, have a couple of days off, the international players meet up with their World Cup squads, play through to November then rejoin their club squads, who've already started their pre-season training.

 

By contrast, the Aussies have a much more leisurely season.

We could, and if we so desired we could play 22 rounds in a 12 team league, but due to the financial requirements this won't happen.

We could also scrap the cup, I wouldn't be a fan of that either.
