It's not quite all negative either

OK ASADA might fine them adding to their misery. It could be a whopping one too

There are no NRL plans to move them to QLD or anywhere else according to what they say.

Who knows what will happen when ASADA concludes its lengthy season long investigation into them and others though?

This report says there's some big money that could be heading their way:

THE Cronulla Sharks' NRL future has received a massive boost with news property developers at their Woolooware home base have offered to throw in an extra $10 million cash.

December 2013

NRL has commented on their investigations into the running of the club two seasons ago:

In the light of current media speculation surrounding the NRL’s investigation into governance issues at Cronulla in 2011 it is important to reiterate that the investigation is ongoing.

At its regular meeting today the Commission was briefed on the progress of the investigation and the fact that matters are still being assessed.

From the outset the NRL has highlighted the seriousness of the matters in question and the need for a thorough and rigorous process.

Any consideration of potential breaches of the NRL Rules are assessed by either the NRL Chief Executive or Chief Operating Officer.

While they say these are only preliminary findings and that the people named have chance to respond to the allegations before the final outcome is revealed, the lists on their misdemeanours is long going by the detail of that article linked to by flyingking

Sharks have now responded

We have been supportive of the NRL throughout the process and the club will now consider the provisional findings, which are detailed and cover a number of aspects. We appreciate and understand the seriousness of the situation and appropriately we will take time to work through a response prior to January 15. However it should be noted that it is our intention to vigorously defend the charges.

The club will also support coach Shane Flanagan regarding the provisional findings against him.

Here's some explanation about the preliminary findings in the form of Q&A

The NRL are acting tough on this.

The $1,000,000 fine is the maximum (though $400,000 is due to be suspended if the Sharks co-operate)

I had the feeling the Sharks finances weren't brilliant.

The penalties will surely hit them hard.

TVNZ:

The ban hits the embattled Sharks the two places it hurts them most - the heart and the back pocket.

In Flanagan, they lose the man credited with keeping the club together during the course of the ASADA investigation.

But to a club that has perpetually been financially weak to wear such a significant fine, though AU$400,000 of it is suspended, has many concerned it could be a terminal punishment.

First responses seem to show Sharks being upbeat.

There's a drip feed of Sharks stuff in the media. I guess when the player aspect of the drugs scandal is released then the story will really lift off. Especially if any big named players are banned.

In their bid to defend Flanagan, Cronulla are likely to shift the entire blame onto Elkin, who welcomed sports scientist Stephen Dank to the club and injected players personally.

Who knows what will happen? Have they commited more crimes than Essendon? it seems certain Victorian types wish the best of the Bombers, whereas those NRL bogans must be guilty of something.
