Only three games a week are shown on free TV in Australia and that would only be in the eastern states, two live one on delay.

Any other games are on Pay TV only.

Pay TV is in less than 30% of homes and subscriptions are falling (nothing to do with Rugby League)

All Fta games are nation wide these days mate, something the commission had to force ch 9 into..

And if you're the Broncos, you get every Friday night to yourself each and every single bloody week.

Yes you are right, I was not aware they had forced that through on the new deal.

Cheers.

The Broncos deal is hopeless, many people in Brisbane have no time for the Broncos and even when they have a ###### season you are forced to watch them plod around whenever they are playing on a  Friday.

I agree Mr. TFIL doesn't have much of a point and should have known the answer to his own question.

But the clamour to say that RL can't get sponsorship because it's a regional game, and the idea some people have on here (not you good sir) that having SL clubs outside that region like Wales and London doesn't really matter, clash a little bit.

Hallelujah.

When there is clamour for expansion, mergers, some glitz and glamour and bigger thinking - never! Everything's rosy in our garden.

When there is criticism at the sport's lack of commercial appeal, bankrupt clubs, players leaving the code, wider indifference - well, we're only little old rugby league serving Yorkshire and Lancashire, what can we do?

It would be funny if it wasn't tragic.

This is the point which wasn't made tongue in cheek.

We lament a major national sponsor and then roundly blame the games regionality.

Then when new clubs try to give us a national profile like Wales London and Gateshead the powers that be won't give them a penny so they naturally struggle and die.

The fans then get on their backs as they struggle and call them useless, if not crooks.

Then when were back to square one and can't get a sponsor then the RFL are useless.

But maybe they are??  Then again maybe it's the clubs who in reality won't let any TV money go into expansion. After all to accommodate some lasting expansion several trad SL clubs would have to go the way many others have.

The game seems to me to be run by a private club of northern businessmen for their own enjoyment???

Wasn't like that at all, and RL was on the ball in Australia, they actually played against the wobbles at times and let them keep the money to help keep the code alive. There were other times where the Union and League got together and the League mob gave all the gate takings to the unions to get out of debt, that's how the QRU started back up in the late 20 early 30's.

RU wasn't killed off when RL started, they could still pull big crowds and the VFL has always been chipping away across the whole nation because it was here more or less first. It's not as straight forward in Australia as many think it is.

If the RL authorities did all that to resurrect Australian RU they should be tried for treason. A major mistake. They should have put a stake through the heart of RU when they had them on their last legs. There would have been no Lions tours stealing the ratings and sporting spotlight in Australia then, nor any World cup tournament there to further push their agenda..

Why stoop to their (some in the other code) level, aren't we evolved-above that old archaic way of doing things?

The Rugby war is far from over so no need to go there, our code of Rugby is the better one anyway and will win out eventually.
