Match of the Day advertised a Union International of a country (Ireland) that is 3/4 outside the remit of the BBC. Not a mention was made that next Saturday they will be covering the final of a major sporting competition that is being staged at one of England's top venues.

Very poor article in the mail on Sunday. World cup own goal. Bad decision to play at Wembley. Over optomistic. Missed ticket sales target by 40,000.

Very little about the positives or records broken. Idiots

Fine piece of sports writing by Paul Haward. Really caught the agony and ecstasy of yesterday.

BAD decision to play at Wembley? ?? Well they clearly weren't there. It was a triumph, despite the result

Yep. Wonder which stadium we should have played at, considering most in this country couldn't fit that crowd in.

Bafflingly poor article that pays lip service to the real story from yesterday - the unbelievable 80 minutes of gut-renching drama on the field - to throw in a few of the usual cheap digs. You can count the stadiums in this country that could have housed a 67,000 crowd on one hand and she must be in a minority of one in thinking that the national stadium, Wembley, was a poor choice for yesterday. Of all the comments that I heard from people at the match yesterday, not one bemoaned the empty seats in the top tier - there was simply too much other stuff to focus on and marvel at instead.

I'm not sure if we should expect anything else from the Mail. At best rugby league is ignored.

This, along with a good match report and accompanying colour photos (alas including a series of shots of the NZ try from the touchline jump) was in the print edition of the Telegraph.

I'm going to email the Telegraph and praise it for its coverage.  Sure, we don't get pages and pages like Union does (although we might if we organise more internationals!) but for the Telegraph the coverage of the World Cup has overall been very good.

If Martha is related to Martin, and I suspect she is, then her father is a huge fan of the game.

Cheeky little mention of Rugby League and Sam Burgess on Match of the Day from Chappers and the Eorl Crabtree wannabe.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!
