Vikings sign Paul Johnson from Hull FC

Widnes Vikings have continued their recruitment for the 2014 Super League season, by signing Hull FC prop forward Paul Johnson on a one-year contract.

Be good to see him make a real impact. He's been about a while now. Maybe going to Widnes will help him get his career back on track.

Johnson always looked a decent prospect coming through the juniors at Saints but unfortunately for him his lack of size & strength hampers him at 1st team level. He simply doesn't have the frame to be a good prop or the pace & skill to be a good back rower.

 

He'll make a good squad player at Widnes but isn't really going to improve their team

About right I reckon. He's a big hearted and very committed player, one who perhaps one or two of the players still on Hull's books could learn a lesson from, but simply isn't big enough to make any impact in the forwards.

Best of luck to him in the future.
