This is an Opening Ceremony we are talking about. They always feature the arts, music, lighting, dancing, singing etc. this will be no different.

If you don't want to watch it, don't but anybody slagging something off which hasn't happened are making themselves look a little stupid.

If it was left to me, I'm sure it would be very different to what has been released so far, I'd have been happy with modern music, but then that is all subjective, we'd have had complaints if we had Take That, One Direction, The Vaccines, The Stone Roses etc.

I'd have liked some form of Parade (like the Olympics) to introduce the teams - it will be interesting to see what they do about this.

Personally I'd like us to celebrate the diversity of our sport, and focusing on our Northern roots is unnecessary and not exactly welcoming for new people or the rest of the country. Some history of the game would be interesting, but I'm bringing along my Scottish partner, and she loves the game despite not being from the North.

Besides, plenty of Northerners like dancing, music, the arts etc.

I hope its well done, many opening ceremonies are either well done or cringefests.

A well done opening or something close to it will do for me.

As long as Nigel Wood doesn't twerk, it'll be okay.

Apologies for that mental image.

Really glad to see that they basically shutting the same amount of streets off from traffic as they would for a sold out game! Helps create a really cracking atmosphere especially on west gate street which now has 6-7 pubs right next to the stadium. For those of you new to cardiff trust me you will love it! City arms has the best beer but this place recently bought by an independent brewery might challenge it and is a big place http://www.urbantaphouse.co.uk

Predictions for the future -
Crusaders RL to get a franchise for 2012 onwards -WRONG
Widnes Vikings also to get a franchise - RIGHT
Crusaders RL to do the double over Widnes and finish five places ahead of them -WRONG
Widnes Vikings NOT to dominate rugby league in years to come! STILL TO COME

Apologies for that mental image.

Surely that would create worldwide interest and possibly cause a Twitter meltdown :D

Ten time Eisteddfod winning choir Cor Caerdydd are part of the mass choir singing the national anthems. They've been rehearsing for a few weeks now. Going to be a good un.

Mass choir? That sounds pretty mega. How many in total? I hope they think about giving them and all the dancers a seat in the ground. Upper North would do nicely. In fact, how cool would it be to have a 4000 strong choir filling that area and then belting out the tunes!!?!

I do not see the connection between  a dancing show on TV and the game and I suspect their are few fans of the game in this part of the World that watch a Dancing show on tv with or without "Martin" involved.

If it works in the UK fair enough, it will not work well in OZ or NZ if it is what I imagine it will be.

Sing the Anthems, play some footage on the big screens and get the game on.

I assume when the olympics where held in Aussie land they had an opening ceremony that wasn't just sport.

The so called Dancing (Strictly Come Dancing) show is one of the highest watched shows on TV in the UK and also other countries as per headline from a newspaper a few months ago plus its highly popular show in Aussie land getting top viewing figures often:

From Thailand to India, Strictly's a global hit: Show is BBC's most successful export as it rakes in millions

  • Strictly Come Dancing's format has been sold to 43 countries
  • Known as 'Dancing With The Stars' it has an audience of 250 million people
