The new sports minister is Maidstone MP Helen Grant, she is incredibly sporty having lived in Carlisle and represented Cumbria at hockey, tennis, athletics cross country and been North of England judo champion. She also went to the University of Hull so she is likely with that background to have some knowledge of rugby league.

A minister with some experience of the department they're in charge of? It'll never catch on I tell ya.

The post has been down graded from Minister of State level to parliamentary under-secretary level(quite a step down in importance).

Even though he is a Tory Hugh Robertson was a reasonable sports minister.

Cameron has deliberately spread the demographic profile of his team.

I thought Hugh Robertson was a good Sports Minister and I hope that Helen Grant can match his performance.

She seem to have ideal credentials for the job.

Robertson has not been sacked, just moved sideways to the Foreign Office.
