Just finished this biography of Brian Bevan on the way into work this morning.
Those 796 tries he officially scored? They didn't include the 19 he scored in Wardonia Cup matches (very competitive pre-season dust-ups between Warrington and Wigan) or the two tries he scored in an international Sevens tournament just after his official retirement. Or the tries he scored for various local RU teams he turned out for in his post-RL life (it never lasted - he'd be recognised and shopped by someone, and Twickers would threaten that team into not allowing him to play again).
So he actually topped the 800 mark quite comfortably. Astounding. Shame there's so little footage available of this extraordinary man.
