On Tuesday BBC4 are showing the first two episodes of Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy while on Film4 the film is showing. Both get 5 stars in the telly pages.

Is the TV version better than the film or is the film better? Or are both worth watching even though they're the same story.

Advice please

Not that long since the film was last on TV. Really enjoyed it. Not seen the TV series.

The TV series was brilliant at the time. However, i suspect that it won't be widescreen and will look a bit dated .... a bit similar to I Claudius repeats.

Beryl Reid was a brilliant actress though, so still worth a look.

The film is very good - I watched the original TV series but can't remember much about it.
