Arranging pre-season games is never easy, particularly for a Championship club. Over the past few months we have approached every single Super League side (except London and Catalans) to try and arrange a pre-season friendly.

We were turned down for various reasons by every club except for Bradford and Wakefield. Unfortunately we were not able to make the Wakefield game work in terms of both clubs being available at the same time. But this highlights the difficulty in arranging friendlies outside of the season but just how hard we do work behind the scenes to make things happen. Once a game has been arranged by the clubs it is then subject to RFL approval. Who can, and do refuse to sanction games citing various reasons.

We are lucky at Dewsbury that we have managed to secure 4 preseason games, with each providing an excellent opportunity for the team to play together, for the coach to try new things and for the fans to enjoy some off season rugby.

With fixtures out on Monday we can now confirm that our pre-season games will be as follows:

26th December @ 12pm Batley Bulldogs - HOME

19th January @ 3pm Bradford Bulls - HOME

26th January @ 3pm - Keighley Cougars - AWAY

2nd February @ 3pm - Doncaster - HOME

In terms of prices we hope you understand that under challenging times the club has to have an income, and the friendlies provide valuable economic resources which is then ploughed back into the club playing budget. With that in mind Batley, Bradford and Keighley will be the usual match day prices.

However, we understand that fans too are struggling financially and so the Doncaster game will have only the Main stand open. This reduces our operating costs and those savings will be passed onto the fans with game admission being:

Adult - £10

Concession £7

Under 16’s – Free

Having spoken with Glenn today he was really enthusiastic about the season ahead, with the team’s progress in training and to our next game and annual Boxing Day clash with Batley. As a club, and with our fans we look forward to seeing the boys run out and to getting some vital preseason game time, starting December 26th at 3pm.

Thank you
