Interesting development... The Qld cup could have teams from 3 nations in a few years.

Sounds like more positive and progressive news come from the southern hemisphere.

Great news, hope it comes about. Would be wonderful if Samoa and Tonga could get teams at that level too, a defined path for islanders could really strengthen the international game.

Execellant idea and a great stepping stone for local domestic Fijian RL players, just like png. But I guess it will all boil down to money in terms of travel expense, especially for the Fijians as they will be travelling to oz every other week. In the name of expansion the NRL should really help out with travel expenses(if they already don't plan to) both the Aussie teams and png and other potential overseas teams.

It really would be fantastic for development and player pathway in Fiji - the Queensland Cup could end up being a real development ground in the near future with the inclusion of a PNG team and if this comes off...

What I would like to ideally see is the NRL to expand with Perth, NZ 2, Brisbane 2 and one other and then have below that a real second teir - surely they can afford to run something with their TV deal - We could have some old school NSW teams back (Norths for example) as well as the PNG and Fiji team... Play it in conferences if need be to keep travel costs lower but organise a real teir 2...

Sorry, but "surely they can afford to run something" is what rugby league has to be careful of.  We can make everything pay if we are smart enough.
