Energy drinks plus prescription drugs = concern for players welfare.

The NZRL when reviewing their World Cup campaign and disappointing performance against Australia in the final spotted that some players were doing this as part of their recovery practices and that this was something they brought to the NZ camp from their professional clubs.

This isn't banned under anti-doping regulations but the officials in their camp became concerned for long term player welfare.
