This might be the last time that we can see one of the top clubs in future.    The new 3 x 8's system that they are introducing also includes a proposal that the top 8 SL clubs be exempt from the Challenge Cup until the 5th Round (last 16).   So, in future we would have to be in the 8 other teams in order to get one of the "plum" teams in the draw.

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996.

If you ask me it's a joke this new system should've just kept it how it is with 1 up 1 down from sl and 2 up 2 down from championship

Look at the squad numbers and you will see that the majority in the first 13 names are (except 1) in the 26 numbers.    Several of these players are new to Wigan having just signed but neverthless Wigan first team players.

thats still good they were never gonna bring all their top players. We dont wanna end up like the jampots on the end of over a century do we and atleast we aint playing against a total bunch of kids like the rhinos brought to the wreck.

Plus Dan Sarginson and Tony Clubb were established SL players with London Broncos and John Bateman played for Bradford Bulls and is tipped as the new up and coming forward.
