In the Under 16's - Seaton Rangers beat Wigan St Cuthberts 38 - 0 and Rose Bridge won at Wath Brow .

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996.

Thanks Taxi, a worrying amount of 18.0 for a cup competition that people enter by choice

Yes I echo those sentiments ,can not understand people entering a competition then pulling out if they are in most cases drawn away .

I can understand teams entering and not fulfilling in a way. My own team almost struggled to raise a team, having not had a league fixture since December 15th, a host of lads have lost interest. I've gone from having 24 available players for that last fixture to turning out with 15 yesterday in the National Cup. Such a shame that lads are potentially being lost to the game due to poor organisation.

I have suggested to Barla that they consider moving the competition to a summer based one, given that the majority of the youth and junior leagues are summer based watch this space .

That may be the solution for the competition

: But could they RFL fit it in the calendar it is a BARLA competition and they would not want to prolong the life of BARLA
: Despite all the negatives towards summer rugby that the majority agree with this would be another nail in the coffin for the traditional season

About 60% of the teams entering the U18's Cup are West of the Pennines and playing in Summer Comps. The opening rounds only gave us a week or two pre-season and we've already had 2 postponements meaning 2 rounds have taken 4 weeks. The pitches on both occasions were saturated and it would probably get a good few more entrants if it had a March/April start with a run though to May/June.

I'm assuming your team is East of Pennines Defender. It would be great if the youth game would see the light and get rid of those months where you think players lose interest and shift the season accordingly. I think the game may well get it's head down over here and there are now 4 divisions at U18's. That will only increase as new clubs teams move up from U16's.

Cumbria now seems to making the most of a March start. If Yorkshire/Hull/Pennine came on board there's no reason why full National Cups be re-instated.
