Great to see this tournament underway. We're half way through Day 1 on UK TV. After the winter weather we've had it's wonderful to see this festival of RL in the sun of Auckland. Great atmosphere with lots of folk in fancy dress. Watching South's v Dragons currently. Sharks on next. Bunnies have won this one though. Dragons didn't really get going.

Eden Park looks superb under with the sun beating down. Saw Panthers beat Storm. Ouch! Close though with Melbourne taking just a bit too long to get into the swing of things.

46,000 enjoying this glorious day. Tigers v Sharks now. Sharks won their previous game. Paul Fallen n Todd Carney on the pitch. Can't be bad for Cronulla.

Sironen limped off for Tigers. Sharks have player sin binned. Tigers now score try.

Sharks back in it. They have a good side with Fifita and Feki
Tigers up at half time.

Nines a better game than 7s. Not so much a lottery.

Hometown favourites have magnificent support here. The tournament has hit the right note - it's joyous. Looking forward to seeing Sam Tomkins in action.

Having seen a lot of Day 1 games the stand out teams for me were Panthers and Warriors.

Really enjoyed it, and very glad to read that some of the big name players who didn't appear wanted to play and could well turn out next year. One point I would change though is the 5 point try - an unnecessary gimmick.

The main advantage of that five point Try is scores are far less likely to be even with the odd number.

Drop goal athons would ruin it.
