We knew this league was gonna be even stronger and even more desperate ... It's a brute , and if you haven't kept up with the pack then your effort and commitment and 20 minute patches of good play is just gonna get spat out by most teams , and that's without the errors on top . There's glimpses there but we can't sustain it

Full time :

Batley 36 - Town 16.    Great first half and then an error riddled second half cost us badly

Barrow  8 - Leigh 52

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996.

Never mind messing about BOD get a new coach in ASAP -fed up of watching and listening to the same old same old.

I think I would seeing if Paul Crarey would help out the caretaker coaches with advice.    He certainly seems to know what he's talking about and although he can't take the job permanently he might be able to help us out for a few weeks.   We wont know if we don't ask though!!!!

Two games with good starts , getting winning positions and both gone up in smoke . Two second halves which we're nightmares ... We'd boast about our conditioning , is that an issue now ? Or are we just running out of ideas and the physical side is lacking as games go on . I don't know . Maybe teams we play just have gears and quality we haven't got

Does seem to be a pattern emerging. Looking on the bright side though it does appear we can compete or better for a while....

Listening to Butch on the radio he said, "we played some nice rugby in the first half when we threw it around" but I think we never got much of a chance in the second half because of defensive errors putting us on the back foot all the time.

Ha ha ha you've gotta laugh . Coaches change but the same script gets handed over !!! You must have sympathy for these guys , the players basic deficiencies aren't their fault. Wayne Bennett would be saying the same thing . Errors kill us , and other sides who beat us make far fewer

Well great first half as was last week, second half errors seem to have cost use and some grunt up front, its really apparent we need more strength in the forwards to take the pressure of the backs, cant blame the Wigan kids this league will do them the world of good and develop there game and its all we have anyway.

Carey talks a great game would love to have him in, even if it was to help out till we appoint a coach, could he have not helped today he has a great knowledge of the game.

The worrying thing is we are unlikely to see any signings until we appoint a coach, Swinton next a must win game, them Barrrr away, a win or at least a bonus point.

Hard luck today tho lads,

ps anyone see P Gilmour about tell him keep away from the rec !!

Even at this stage you're looking at the three Cumbrian clubs , Swinton , Rochdale and Keighley as battling out out . We must win next week , no excuses now

It's obvious we need at least 2 props that can burst a tackle, we were brilliant in the first half and never backed it up in the second. If we can perform how we did in the first half for the full 80 and get 2 props in we should survive

Mmmm Adam Walne and errr , big Lawton or big Singleton at Leeds . Job done !! If we're sticking with pinning our hopes on Wigan we will need better than Murphy and Lever . Tierney has something but we had first teamers from Widnes . Now they're coming back from Oz hopefully we can negotiate for a grade up . Not buying players and being at the mercy of others does put you on very shaky ground .

So we got these kids to improve the squad and they make errors that gave the momentum back to Batley ...great!

Mmmm its a pretty pickle we've got in . And of course regardless of what you get you're obliged ( virtually )to play them . That's ok when it's a given they're improving you ... But if it's an unknown it's a bit of a punt . This leagues hard . Really really hard for kids to be thrown in .

Crarey made the point more than once that you can't expect every young player to come in and perform at Championship level.   He was saying that Lever and Murphy are still academy type players and haven't learned how to step up to this level of play.   If we are going to get players from Wigan then we just haven't got to accept the first names they throw at us.   Murphy was at South Wales all last season though and you would have thought he would be more up to pace than Lever.

Absolutely . It's massive . This league is full of hard , seasoned guys who just smash you up and wily players who out think you . It's a learning curve for these kids but we haven't got the time for that - we need the finished article I'm afraid for right now . I'm trying hard not to say we've had it if we don't beat Swinton, but if we're not reinforcing much then it's damn tough

Sky website had Liam Mc Avoy as not playing and Keiran instead. We are way too light on forwards.
