Don't think there's anything wrong with James or Ellis Problem with big squad someone to loose out although I cannot believe Ellis has been left out we need him on the field a player of his quality should be in

Hardman not being selected is due to disciplinary reasons alledgedly

Willing to give the coaching team a chance at this stage - apparently players are being dropped due to their stats from the stat man who we employed not being up to scratch from last weeks and previous games, if players are

Get used to the chopping and changing - its here to stay

that's why some of the players will get pi**** off with this sort of team selection stats and everything you can't drop players like hardman ellis james and expect them to be happy stick to a winning team have your core 17 players and make changes because of injurys ship players out on loan for game time but dont drop them cos someone says there stats are not good enough we'v not done bad for the last four years with a stable team

May be wrong but think Powell used stats to enable players to improve their play. I reckon Rovers 18 Wales 6

Stable yeah but 9/10 times weve always choked when it mattered - is that due to possible burnout selecting the same 17 all the time? we will find out as the season progresses whether rotation is the answer

These were the big games that were under the seasons DP started, obviously the Leigh and Batley games of 2013 were under Ryan Sheridan and Shaun Long respectively.

2009 Halifax GF eliminator 30-36
2010 Halifax GF 22-23
2011 Halifax NRC SF 30-31
2011 Sheff GF 44-4
2012 Halifax NRC final 12 - 21
2012 Sheff GF 16-20
2013 Leigh NRC QF 12-22
2013 Batley GF Eliminator 20-21

We'll I'd hardly call 2009 a choke, we finished fifth I think that season and certainly came strong toward the end if the season, beating both Sheffield and Widnes at their grounds in the play offs. The game at the shay could have gone either way, Rovers had a bad spell ten minutes either side of the interval.

The grand final of 2010, losing by a GP. Rovers had beaten Fax easily in the SF and were just starting to run Halifax ragged ( think it was 10-4 at the time, with Rovers on the attack) when the fire came. We had a good spell in the first 15 mins of the second half but badly tired after, when it could be argued that had Halifax not had the break we would have been out of sight. Halifax had some huge forwards in that game who were blowing when the fire alarm started. We lost fair and square but to be fair don't know if you could blame the GP loss on a Squad.

The GP in June 11 v Halifax at home. Rovers were 30-24 up with a conversion albeit a difficult one still to come. Finn's conversion from the touchline shaved the post. Halifax got a subsequent converted try that would not have been enough had Finn's kick gone over. Halifax's scoreline also included a freak try after Rovers had fumbled on the Fax line for Worrincey to go the length. It is questionable whether we'd have won the final as Leigh were running hot at that time. Can't have been a squad problem this year as Rovers romped away with the GF.

I was abroad for the Halifax game at Blackpool, but I believe we were well beaten and out thought.

The GF against Sheffield in 12 was played in atrocious conditions the best team won, a team that we hadn't beaten all season but it could of gone either way right to the buzzer, Smeaton's injury before the final being a key factor also.

Leigh in 13 Shezzer's first game in charge, beaten comfortably. But the Squad bounced back to win the shield.

The Batley game, without Bostock, Spears and England we were beaten in the second half again fair and Square, but had Finn's drop gone over in ET then the rest would be history. For what it's worth I think last year's team wasn't one of the most vintage in the DP era we may well not have beaten the Eagles in the final.

Etu had a decent debut only touched the ball a couple of times in 1st half more involved in 2nd half when we started moving the ball wide.

A good win and display of doing the basics right by Fev today and I'm sure the Cru' will learn a lot from this game.

Well done and well played Fev.

On a different note, with so many families and young children in the crowd I was disheartened by  a section of Fev fans, it spoiled the first impression that I had formed of the travelling fans which is a shame. :(

I enjoyed the game. Cru played well first half, tough and quick in defence and offloading and throwing the ball about a bit in attack. 2nd we stepped up a bit and Cru looked to run out of a bit of steam. Pre game we had a nice roast at the ground with some friendly Cru fans. All in all a good day. :)
