Over 380 children took part in the Five Towns Primary Schools Cup at Castleford Tigers' Mend-A-Hose Jungle on Friday.

The day was held as part of the 5 Towns Schools games, now in its 12th year, with 32 local schools taking part.

The Primary Schools Cup is a Tag Rugby Competition for boys and girls in the year 5 and 6 age groups, with Airedale Junior School running out eventual winners this year, beating Orchard Head 36-32 in a tight final.

The partnership was formed to bring closer links between primary schools and high schools and academys in the Five Town area.

Organiser Miss Lyndsay Anfield said: "What a great day we have had at the Castleford Tigers. Everyone as thoroughly enjoyed their day and the Tigers staff have been great for us.

"It was a great to give the children the opportunity to play at one the best grounds in Super League. I do hope that we will be able to hold it here again in the future."

Keith Bullimore, Castleford Tigers Rugby League Development Officer said: " It has been fantastic to see so many smiling faces enjoying the sport.

The feedback from the teachers was excellent and I am sure that the Tigers will want to host it again in the future.

"We would like to congratulate all the teachers and pupils for putting on such a great day!"
